What We Do

home Theater by Design specializes in the design, manufacture, and installation of home theater interiors. Working in partnership with your audio/video vendor, we provide all of the services required to convert your selected space into your dream theater. This is done in conjunction with your own builder or we can provide all the necessary resources for a quick and easy turn-key job.

The process of converting you space into a home theater involves three phases; Design, Manufacturing, and Installation.

1The Design Phase

The design phase starts with a review our portfolio of theaters and renderings to determine the style of theater that meets your needs and expectations. During the initial meeting we take room dimensions so that we can quickly provide you with a seating plan and sight line analysis to make sure that your space can accommodate the desired number of seats and the desired screen size.

The Design Phase has three deliverables:

1. A full set of Construction Drawings
  • Information Sheet
  • Floor Plan
  • Elevations
  • Ceiling and Soffit Plan
  • Electrical Plan
  • Sight Line Analysis
  • Construction Details

2. A set of computer generated 3D renderings of your theater so that you can see the exact look and feel of the theater design. computer generated 3D renderings of your theater computer generated 3D renderings of your theater

3. A Proposal with the exact, not to exceed, price to manufacture and install your theater plus a description of the components that make up the theater including, acoustic treatments, millwork, lighting, motorized drapery rods and draperies, and any special components unique to your theater.

2The Manufacturing Phase

The manufacturing phase of the project typically takes for 4 to 6 weeks to build and/or order the component parts required for your theater. Typical activities include:

  • Manufacturing of acoustic panels
  • Manufacturing decorative columns
  • Ordering and finishing millwork
  • Ordering lighting fixtures
  • Ordering curtains, motorized rods, draperies, etc.

Decorative columns are manufactured using furniture grade veneered plywood with solid wood moldings. All columns and moldings are stained and finished with 4 coats of lacquer for a beautiful, durable finish

3The Installation Phase

Installation typically takes from 4 to 7 working days depending on the complexity of the theater design.

  • Installation begins when the theater build out is completed
  • Installation is simplified by pre-assembling as much as possible in the shop
  • All floors and carpets will be protected
